Summer Camp Coordinator POSITION SUMMARY  Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM) is seeking a Summer Camp Coordinator to join our Summer Camp team. The Camp Coordinator will support camp leadership and staff, coordinate program logistics and fulfill administrative duties. They will be also responsible for maintaining a positive and educational environment for campers and camp staff. Ideal candidates will have deep commitment to and passion for research-backed teaching practice, love, and respect for young children and their enormous capabilities, and interest in serving in an evolving camp community.    The pay rate for this non-exempt role is $24.25/ hour. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  Availability to work during the designated seasonal camp sessions between June 8th and August 21st, 2026. Assumes administrative duties, including creating schedule rosters, maintaining inventory, restocking supplies, preparing materials, and completing other camp-related tasks. Supports Discovery Camp Facilitators and serves as a substitute facilitator if needed. Supports Senior and Junior Camp Facilitators on breaks and with setting up activities. Addresses behavioral concerns with compassion and applies supportive behavior-guidance strategies when needed. Manages camp Lost and Found.  Participates in camp drop-off, pick-up, and parent/caregiver communication.  Prepares and distributes clear, timely updates to parents and caregivers via text and email. Works cooperatively to maintain open lines of communication with caregivers, constituents, supervisors, and co-workers.  Demonstrates professionalism and serves as a positive role model for campers, caregivers, and the public. Maintains Bay Area Discovery Museum supplies, equipment, and facilities. Attends, supports, and helps facilitate scheduled camp staff training sessions. Additional duties as assigned. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS   Bachelor’s degree or some college coursework preferred; a degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is a plus.  Previous experience in teaching or child-focused roles, with experience supporting children ages 3–8. Experience working in an informal education, summer camp, or early childhood education setting.  Demonstrates the ability to manage classrooms or lead youth groups effectively. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills in interactions with campers, caregivers, and colleagues. Works collaboratively as part of a team while following direction effectively. Takes initiative and works independently when needed. Exhibits a mature, reliable, and hard-working attitude. Willing to go above and beyond to support campers, staff, and camp operations. Uses technology to communicate effectively with camp families, including sending and responding to emails and texts, sharing updates, and posting photos. Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification and Mandated Reporter training (provided by the Bay Area Discovery Museum) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The employee is required to: Hike and traverse uneven terrain throughout Fort Baker National Park for several miles every day. Read and understand Camp Training documents containing text and/or numbers. Ability to perform physical activities including bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, reaching, grasping, handling, and standing for periods of up to 8 hours. Lift 10 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift up to 25 pounds. Have the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
