POSITION SUMMARY Join us as a Seasonal Early Childhood Education (ECE) Senior Camp Facilitator this summer at our 3-year-old Discovery Camp! In this role, you will lead and engage young campers through a variety of fun, hands-on summer activities. ECE Senior Camp Facilitators implement an emergent curriculum designed specifically for our three-year-old participants, within the natural setting of the Bay Area Discovery Museum and Fort Baker. ECE Senior Camp Facilitators support and guide children’s learning and development by facilitating play-based, hands-on experiences that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth throughout the camp day. The pay rate for this non-exempt role is $27-$30/hour. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Promotes the safety and well-being of all children, supporting their emotional, physical, cognitive, and behavioral development. Collaborates with the 3-year-old camp team to plan and implement play-based, emergent learning activities and curriculum. Maintains a positive, fun, and engaging environment for campers. Builds strong, supportive relationships with families and communicates regularly about campers' daily experiences. Documents and shares reflections on camper experiences to keep families informed through digital communication. Mentors and guides Senior and Junior Camp Facilitators. Ensures that each child is signed in and out by an authorized caregiver daily. Attends all required training sessions as scheduled. Commits to working a minimum of four weeks during the seasonal camp session between June 8th and August 14th, 2026. Additional duties as assigned. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Engage and support young children (ages 3-4) in open-ended, play-based learning experiences. Bring prior experience working with children in the 3-4 age range. Hold a minimum of 6 completed Early Childhood Education (ECE) units. Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification and Mandated Reporter training (provided by the Bay Area Discovery Museum) Abides by and enforces the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s health and safety protocols. Demonstrates flexibility, reliability, professionalism, and a strong collaborative approach.Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with campers, caregivers, colleagues, and families from diverse backgrounds and cultures.An ability to address behavioral concerns with compassion and apply supportive behavior-guidance strategies when needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The employee is required to: Be able to travel to and work onsite at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Ability to move from place to place, work outdoors, bend and lift and carry up to 35 pounds short distances. Read and understand documents containing text and/or numbers. Ability to perform physical activities including bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, reaching, grasping, handling, and standing for periods of up to eight hours. Lift 10 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift up to 35 pounds. Have the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather. WORK ENVIRONMENT Works in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, including occasional high noise levels, widely varying temperatures, varying levels of light, and inclement weather. We believe that these research-backed on-site and off-site experiences should be made available to all children and families and offer a variety of access initiatives toward this goal.
