SUMMARY:  The Patient Safety Coordinator will serve as the Patient Safety Officer (PSO) and will promote patient safety and quality within the organization, encouraging a positive safety culture that benefits the safety of our patients.  The Patient Safety Coordinator/Officer will have primary oversight of the organization-wide patient safety program.  This leadership role will direct others within the facility towards process improvements that will support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes.  This individual provides leadership for safety and risk assessments, uses data and information to guide and coordinate the activities of the patient safety team, educates other practitioners on the causes for medical error, consults with management and staff, and communicates evidence-based ideas regarding effective patient safety strategies to others within the organization.
 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate of Science in related medical field required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience:  Two (2) years in healthcare field.

Licensure and/or Certification: Must possess current Arkansas or Compact State Nursing License in good standing, if applicable.  Certificated Professional in Patient Safety preferred.

Ability to regularly stand and walk, occasionally bend, squat and twist, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds using proper body mechanics.  Must have a keen sense of hearing and visual acuity with or without correction.  Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure.

Office setting, within a hospital environment

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Flexible work schedule, 4 days a week, Monday – Friday, 9-hour shifts.
