The Opportunity
Our client, a premier 300 room full-service hotel and conference center located in the Ontario airport business corridor, is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and service-oriented Human Resources Manager to lead their People & Culture function.
Under new ownership, the property is currently undergoing a comprehensive, top-to-bottom renovation and luxury rebranding. This is a rare, career-defining opportunity to help shape a premier property’s workplace culture, spearhead mass talent acquisition, and build a high-performing team from the ground up.
Core Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Talent Acquisition: Lead the full-cycle recruitment process, including workforce planning, sourcing, interviewing, selection, and hiring of qualified talent for a expanding full-service operation.
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee onboarding, orientation, employee relations, investigations, performance management, and offboarding in strict compliance with corporate standards and labor laws.
- Strategic Partnership: Partner closely with corporate HR leadership and the property's executive team to provide strategic HR guidance, leadership coaching, and support on all people-related matters.
- Culture & Engagement: Develop and execute initiatives that support employee appreciation, colleague events, recognition initiatives, and retention strategies to cultivate an inclusive, high-performing environment.
- Learning & Development: Coordinate, administer, and track brand-required training, leadership development, compliance programs, and departmental learning initiatives.
- HR Administration & Compliance: Maintain accurate personnel files and HRIS documentation. Assist with wage analysis, market benchmarking, benefit invoice reconciliation, and annual Open Enrollment.
- Workplace Safety: Lead the hotel's Safety Committee, monitor Workers' Compensation claims, coordinate return-to-work programs, and ensure proactive compliance with OSHA and California workplace safety standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a full-service hotel or multi-department hospitality operation.
- Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) is highly preferred.
- Compliance Knowledge: Thorough, working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, with explicit expertise in California wage-and-hour and employment law.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with HRIS platforms and design tools (e.g., Canva) is preferred.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate an operation with fluctuating business and banquet demands.
