What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Project Manager position at Battery Park City Authority?
The Senior Project Manager of Design and Construction will manage various aspects including the day-to-day activities of construction to ensure the successful project delivery of large-scale coastal resiliency projects. The Senior Project Manager will provide oversight of project schedules and budgets in adherence to the contracted scope, and coordinate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and external agencies for BPCA. The position will focus on coastal resiliency and support project delivery and project management across the Design and Construction larger capital portfolio. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Design and Construction.
Essential Duties:
- Plan, manage, and coordinate all aspects of the project schedule, scope, and cost.
- Manage project initiation, planning, execution, and close-out.
- Manage the on-site project stakeholders.
- Assure project delivery methods are properly coordinated with internal and external stakeholders and are performed safely.
- Evaluate documents and communicate the Authority’s specific goals and expectations to all project team members.
- Develop and communicate action plans that will lead the project team throughout the project, beginning with the initial Project Management Plan.
- Re-evaluate the contract scope of work as the project progresses against the goals, expectations, and needs, and recommend adjustments as necessary.
- Coordinate with cost management group for preparation of cost estimates, cost studies, actual job cost reviews, and budget reconciliation.
- Organize and maintain framework for project team processes and record keeping of electronic and tangible documents.
- Drive the permitting process by designing team documents to be submitted to various local, state, and federal agencies and ensure the applicable permits are moving through the process efficiently.
- Ensure the project design management continues to follow the project documents such as budget, scope, schedule, and design standards.
- Manage all aspects of the construction process including working with a broad team of contractors, design engineers, architects, consultants, and vendors.
- Review and approve all elements of project scope changes and ensure implementation is in accordance with
- contract requirements and BPCA Procurement Guidelines.
- Manage, or assist in the management of the assessment, planning, engineering and construction processes associated with potential capital projects, including multifaceted and multiphase infrastructure and resiliency projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- An associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Six (6) to eight (8) years of relevant work experience in large scale construction, resiliency, and/or delivery of capital projects.
- Master’s degree, Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification, and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications are preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing a team of contractors and consultants.
- Demonstrated experience organizing complex workloads with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are highly desirable for this position.
- Additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Salary : $130,000 - $145,000
