Senior Estimator

Often these facilities operate expensive equipment that must remain fully functional throughout the construction process. We provide a full-service construction offering for complex multi-phased projects, renovations, and expansions and new from the ground-up construction. 

Position Summary:

Work with preconstruction team to win work for the company through the development of competitive and accurate proposals.  Develop junior estimators through mentoring and coaching to help them reach their full potential.

Position Responsibilities:

• 
  Ability to lead teams and work independently through estimating process from the receipt of bid documents through subcontractor buyout.
• 
  Mentors and develops other members of the estimating staff.

• Review budget and bid documents to understand project requirements and scope.

• 
  Interviews and pre-qualifies subcontractors. Manages a database of qualified subcontractors capable of worksite completion.
• 
  Chooses appropriate subs for projects, eliminates poorly qualified subs and manages process to necessary DBE goals.
• 
  Prepares subcontractor bid packages
• 
  Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals against bid requirements and bid packages.
• 
  Prepare all levels of estimates for budget and bid opportunities.
• 
  Represents Batten & Shaw, Inc. in meetings with owners, architects and engineers, and contractors.
• 
  Completes subcontractor buyout and operations turnover process.
• 
  Develops owner and subcontractor contacts.
• 
  Research local code and permit requirements.
• 
  Adheres to estimating policies and procedures.
• 
  Prepares value engineering as needed.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Sciences, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field and 7-15 years estimating experience or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
• Experience in commercial and healthcare construction. 
• Experience in conceptual estimating.
• Experience in both a negotiated and hard-bid environment.
• Experience with Timberline or equivalent estimating software.
• Willingness to travel to local and regional jobsites as needed.
