Job Summary
We are seeking an early career Safety & Health Technician to join our best-in-class Team. The Safety & Health Technician performs routine and non-routine tasks necessary for the effective implementation of the Safety, Health, and Emergency Response Program. This position receives guidance and supervision from the Safety and Health Manager.
This position will report to the King Avenue Campus in Columbus Ohio, but will require periodic travel to West Jefferson, OH Campus.

Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections in support of program audits to ensure the organization’s compliance with current policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
- Schedule and perform periodic testing of chemical fume hoods. Coordinate with Facilities organization to troubleshoot any chemical fume hood that is out of operating specification.
- Assist in maintaining Battelle’s chemical inventory system. Perform periodic comprehensive facility reviews to ensure the inventory is current, accurate, and complete.
- Purchase, maintain, and calibrate industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and assist in conducting exposure monitoring. Inspect emergency equipment (e.g., Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs, Level A and B personal protective equipment, etc.). Arrange for repairs or replacement of any emergency equipment that does not meet performance standards.
- Support annual fire extinguisher inspection and replacement.
- Serve on Battelle’s hazardous materials response team and respond to emergency situations involving potential hazardous materials releases.
- May conduct limited training of staff in assigned program areas.
- Associate degree and 3 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field.
- US Citizenship required
- Must be capable of wearing Level A ensemble including Self Contained Breathing Air Respirator.
