What We’re Looking For:

• Current Louisiana licensure as LCSW, LMSW, LPC, or PLPC.

• One year of mental health or chemical dependency experience in a psychiatric or social service setting preferred but not required.

• Strong crisis intervention, assessment, and communication skills.

• Knowledge of DSM diagnostic criteria preferred.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, referral sources, and community agencies.

What You Will Do:

Provide behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, referrals, and coordinated admissions support for patients seeking psychiatric, chemical dependency, or social service care. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, referral agents, and treatment teams to ensure safe and appropriate care access.

Essential Job Functions:

• Receives and documents inquiry calls from individuals and agencies seeking access to behavioral health services.

• Schedules and conducts in-person behavioral health assessments, including face-to-face ED evaluations.

• Provides crisis intervention and discharge planning for patients in the Emergency Department.

• Conducts consults on medical floors as needed and documents assessments accurately.

• Completes insurance precertification and facilitates admission paperwork for behavioral units.

• Refers individuals not meeting admission criteria to appropriate community resources.

• Prepares and submits daily activity reports and special data as requested.

• Mentors, orients, and serves as a resource to new admissions staff.

• Provides guidance for complex admissions and contributes to department performance improvement.

• Monitors system-wide issues affecting admission efficiency and proposes improvements.

• Provides social service consults related to shelter, detox, home health, transportation, DME, and abuse/neglect concerns.

• Assists ED staff with trauma cases and access to morgue as needed.

• Represents BRG at community initiatives and collaborative events.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
