McKinney-Vento Targeted Tutoring Program
Bath County Schools is seeking qualified, experienced certified teachers to serve as full-time or part-time tutors through the district’s McKinney-Vento Targeted Tutoring Program. This position is designed to provide intensive academic support to students identified under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
Tutors will work within assigned schools during the regular instructional day to provide supplemental academic interventions focused primarily on literacy and mathematics. Services may include push-in classroom support, small group instruction, and individualized tutoring designed to address learning gaps and improve student achievement.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide targeted academic interventions in reading and mathematics for identified students.
- Deliver instruction through push-in support, small groups, and one-on-one tutoring.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, intervention staff, counselors, and administrators to support student success.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation of services provided, including tutoring logs and progress monitoring records.
- Support the district’s efforts to remove educational barriers for students experiencing homelessness.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with district policies and federal program requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Kentucky teaching certificate.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills required.
- Experience in elementary or secondary intervention instruction preferred.
- Retired teachers or teachers with twenty years of teaching experience preferred.
- TRS Retirees must be eligible for return-to-work employment through the Teachers' Retirement System of Kentucky.
- Employment is contingent upon approval and compliance with all applicable TRS return-to-work regulations.
Employment Information
- A total of five (5) tutor positions are available:
- One (1) tutor assigned to each of the 4 schools within the district
- One (1) additional district-wide floater tutor position to provide flexible support based on student needs
- Positions will be determined by the Board of Education based on district salary schedule, rank and classification guidelines OR
- Paid at the district-approved Daily Wage Threshold (DWT) rate for retired certified employees.
- Positions follow the regular school calendar and school-day schedule.
- Up to 185 days per school year
