What You’ll Do

In this role you will manage the strategic direction for the revenue and billing function for the Firm to maximize cash flow while maintaining and improving internal and external client relationships. You will oversee the management of all processes related to revenue recognition, unbilled, billing, collections, and management of the billing team. You will:

• Manage responsibilities over the monthly revenue recognition process for time and expense, fixed prices, and other alternative fee arrangements, developing and maintaining written operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Firm’s revenue recognition method
• Manage responsibilities for the Billing Team and billing process, which include:
• Accounting and management of the matter life cycle: set-up, maintenance, and monitoring of matters in compliance with contractual requirements; management and analysis of unbilled, billing process efficiency, accounts receivable, and collections analysis
• Effective communication with the Client Service teams to ensure proactive management of the financial performance of key matters (top 10 to 15 matters based on billable activity)
• Provide leadership and direction to billing team to ensure day-to-day operations within the revenue cycle management are billed and collected accurately and efficiently
• Develop and implement solutions in D365 F&O to optimize the revenue, billing, and collection processes, including e-bill matters
• Collaborate with the Practice Managers team to manage and monitor matter-related information, which includes:
• Client billing contact information resolution, when necessary
• Client bill rate management, including e-billing
• Proactive WIP and collections monitoring
• Effective utilization of D365 F&O and Power BI reports
• Communicate with and manage internal relationships with Practice Chairs, Practice Managers, Finance Partner, and Chief Client Relationship Officer
• Improve the process and timeliness of capturing hours and costs for affiliates and independent contractors to ensure efficiency and inclusion in the monthly billing process
• Coordinate with the Legal department to ensure there are fully executed contracts with clients for each matter
• Monitor and report on key metrics, including but not limited to cash collections, DSO for A/R, speed to bill WIP, speed to collect, AR and WIP aging, payment plans, and write-downs and write-offs
• Proactively perform root cause analysis and develop action plans when metrics do not meet internal goals
• Inform A&F leadership, Finance Partner, and Chief Client Relationship Officer about trends and issues impacting financial performance
• Summarize detailed data clearly and concisely so that information is actionable and in an easy-to-understand format
• Participate in system implementations and upgrades as it pertains to the revenue and billing processes, ensuring that functionality is robustly tested during user acceptance testing
• Manage employee performance and mentor staff
  

What You’ll Bring To The Table

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year degree accredited university in Accounting preferred
• Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience with the revenue and billing cycle in a professional service company, with demonstrated progressive increase in responsibilities
• 7 years of supervisory and/or management experience
• Ability to frequently operate a computer or other office productivity machinery
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation
• May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position

• Competitive compensation—the salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000. This position is also eligible for bonus compensation on a discretionary basis.
