Role Description The Second Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach is responsible for aiding the Head Coach in administering a competitive NCAA Division III intercollegiate program. This position supports the development of student-athletes through mentorship, guidance, leadership opportunities, community building, and a commitment to social justice. The Assistant Coach focuses primarily in the areas of planning and assisting with conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes. This is a seasonal assistant coaching position, and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of affiliated national, regional, and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the NESCAC Conference, and the College. The Assistant Coach will have significant night and weekend commitments. This position reports to the Head Coach.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear instruction, constructive feedback, and positive support to student-athletes and colleagues.
- Demonstrated lacrosse knowledge and experience, including understanding of game strategy, rules, and position-specific skills.
- Coaching and training skills, with experience planning and leading practices, drills, and conditioning sessions that support athlete development and safety.
- Curriculum development or program planning abilities to design progressive skill-building and development plans for individuals and the team.
- Previous coaching experience at the collegiate, club, or high school level is preferred.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable environment for a diverse community of student-athletes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities throughout the season and academic year.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is beneficial.
