    The Assistant Coach is responsible for aiding the Head Coach in administering a competitive NCAA Division III intercollegiate softball program. This position supports the development of student-athletes through mentorship, guidance, leadership opportunities, community building, and a commitment to social justice. The Assistant Coach focuses primarily in the areas of skill development, training, conditioning and performance of student-athletes, along with planning and directing recruitment and fiscal management of the program. This is a professional assistant coaching position, and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of affiliated national, regional, and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the NCAA, the NESCAC Conference, and the College. In addition to their instructional duties, assistant coaches work in partnership with the Office of Admission to recruit, admit, and enroll an academically and athletically talented and diverse team of students. The position will assist with various recruitment projects assigned according to previous experiences and program needs. The Assistant Coach will have significant night and weekend commitments. The Assistant Coach will also have responsibilities to support the Athletics Department for operational initiatives, referred to as a secondary duty. This position reports to the Head Coach.

    The Henry Luce Curatorial Fellow in American Art is a three-year position designed to provide an advanced scholar of American art with comprehensive, hands-on professional experience in curation, education, scholarship, and stewardship. Reporting directly to the Director of Bates College Museum of Art and serving as a member of the curatorial team, the Fellow builds the Museum’s capacity during a period of momentum and growth. The role focuses on researching the permanent collection, organizing exhibitions, and fostering deep curricular integration with college faculty and students. The Fellow is a dedicated steward of the Marsden Hartley Memorial Collection and the Marsden Hartley Legacy Project, spearheading public-facing scholarly initiatives that engage both the campus community and global audiences.

Title: Grounds & Maintenance Worker

Position Purpose:

The Grounds & Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the grounds of all College owned properties.



Job Duties:

  • Operate all grounds maintenance related equipment.
  • Perform all grounds maintenance related tasks.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with recognized National and College safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Continually strive for work performance and shop procedure efficiencies.
  • Perform routine emergency response “on call” duty when necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional schedules to support campus emergencies, snow removal and major campus events.
  • Mandatory work includes but is not limited to the weekends of Convocation, Commencement and Reunion, athletic events and snow removal.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have valid Maine driver’s license.

Experience

  • 2 years of experience.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Commitment to equity and inclusion, and serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse community.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to logically trouble-shoot equipment problems.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the conduct of the job.
