Position Title: Elementary School Nurse (LPN)
Reports To: District Nurse and/or Building Principal
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), as required by the district
Current CPR and First Aid certification
Previous pediatric, school, or community health experience preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA and HIPAA regulations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care and first aid to students
Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district policy
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records
Monitor and manage chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, allergies, and seizures
Implement individualized healthcare plans as needed
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns and follow-up care
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address student health needs
Ensure compliance with state health regulations and district policies
Maintain inventory and proper storage of medical supplies and equipment
Attend meetings, professional development, and trainings as required
Physical Requirements
Ability to move throughout the school building
Ability to lift and assist students when necessary
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Work Environment
School-based setting with regular interaction with students, staff, families, and community healthcare providers
Exposure to childhood illnesses and occasional medical emergencies
Terms of Employment
Hourly Rate dependent on experience
Work calendar aligned with the school year
