Position Summary
Bastion Business and Tax Services, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant to join our growing team in Carmel, Indiana.
This is a part-time, on-site position supporting both client bookkeeping engagements and the day-to-day administrative operations of the firm. The ideal candidate enjoys working with numbers, maintaining organized records, and providing excellent client service.
The successful candidate will play an important role in helping our clients maintain accurate financial records while supporting our tax and advisory services team.
Responsibilities
Bookkeeping Duties
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for multiple clients
Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts
Record and classify financial transactions
Prepare and review journal entries
Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures
Generate and review financial statements, including:
Profit & Loss Statements
Balance Sheets
Cash Flow Reports
Maintain supporting documentation for client files
Identify bookkeeping discrepancies and communicate issues to management
Administrative Duties
Manage client communications and scheduling
Assist with document collection and secure portal management
Maintain client records and internal workflow systems
Support tax preparation and compliance projects
Answer phones and respond to client inquiries professionally
Assist with data entry and general office administration
Coordinate with management regarding client deadlines and project status
Qualifications
Required
Experience with bookkeeping and financial recordkeeping
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
Understanding of basic accounting principles
Experience preparing financial reports
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Experience working in a CPA, EA, accounting, or tax office
Familiarity with payroll processing
Knowledge of tax compliance procedures
Experience working with multiple client accounts
Experience using secure client portals and cloud-based accounting systems
Position Details
Part-Time (20β25 hours per week)
