BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assists in cooking main dishes, meats, and vegetables; baking bread and desserts, and serving food at an assigned school site or location; maintains food serving and preparation areas in a clean and sanitary condition; sells food, snacks, and beverages to students and staff. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Incumbents in the Child Nutrition Assistant II classification perform lead duties in the absence of the Child Nutrition Manager and are assigned more complex food service duties than a Child Nutrition Assistant I. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience, education, and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical combination would be the following: Education: Individuals possessing the experience, knowledge, and abilities listed above are considered to possess the necessary education. Experience: One (1) year of paid experience in preparing food in large quantities, service, and kitchen maintenance in a commercial, institutional or school cafeteria setting. Licenses and Certifications: Must have a current Food Safety Manager Certificate from a nationally recognized Food Safety program and must be maintained throughout employment.
