The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for a variety of advanced repair, preventative maintenance tasks, and maintenance documentation on various equipment throughout the facility to ensure that all equipment is safe and operational.

• Responsible for a variety of repairs, preventative maintenance tasks, and maintenance documentation on various equipment throughout Bassett Healthcare Network to ensure that all equipment is safe and operational.
  
• Assists staff members on various repair maintenance and preventative maintenance work orders throughout Bassett Healthcare Network to ensure that all mechanical equipment is safe and operational.
  
• Performs various work requests to ensure that department/area customer’s facility issues and needs are addressed in a timely and quick manner.
  
• Takes “ownership” of assigned tasks that effectively and positively represents the Facilities/Engineering Services department and ensures completion of work requests and ensures customer satisfaction.
  
• Assists Bassett staff with use and repair of equipment.
  
• Assists in development of material lists for jobs/work.
  
• Maintains a positive working relationship with job related contacts, such as management, patients, employees, contractors, and vendors in order to improve overall departmental and area performance and to ensure that all job contacts are pleasant and productive.
  
• Order and pick up materials.
  
• Maintain a clean, valid NYS Drivers License.
  
• Ability to schedule day around material locations, task locations and priority of task.
  
• Travel may be applicable and dependent on location- scheduled on the snow plow removal rotation.
  
• Other duties as assigned by department leadership.

Education:

• High School Diploma, GED, Vocational or Technical School, preferred

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years Maintenance Mechanic experience, preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

• Must possess a valid NYS Class D driver’s license and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles, required

Physical Requirements:

• Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs, of force constantly to move objects
• Occasional balancing
• Frequent climbing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception)
• Constant hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, walking

Hazards:

• Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne, burns, chemical, electrical, explosives, mechanical, radiation/radiant energy

Working Conditions:

• Occasional dust, fumes, gases, odors
• Frequent extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, wet and/or humid, mists

Travel:

• Occasional travel – the job may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
