POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and full operational oversight for Big Cedar Lodge within the Bass Pro Shops Hospitality Division. This role ensures excellence in guest experience, operational efficiency, financial performance, and cultural alignment across all resort operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide leadership within the Operations division of Bass Pro Hospitality including design and execution of strategies that enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and team performance.
- Create partnerships within all business pillars to ensure Operational success.
- Collaborate with Finance and the Vice President of Operations to develop an annual operating budget for Operations a whole. Responsible to hold leaders accountable for achieving financial goals within their assigned business units.
- Coach and influence Operations Division leaders to model effective leadership behaviors that advance both cultural and business objectives.
- Create goals for the Operations team that focus on recruiting, training, coaching, and inspiring departmental leaders to perform at a high-level including building talent pipelines by developing existing leaders and identifying future leaders within the department.
- Ensure all physical spaces within areas of the Operations pillar consistently meet or exceed established Bass Pro Shops Hospitality standards.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Preferred: Bachelor's Degree, master’s degree preferred
- Minimum Years of experience: 10 years of experience in Hospitality Management or Operations Management, 5 years’ experience in leading 2 teams within an organization
- Required Certificate(s) or License(s): Valid MO Driver’s License to drive company vehicles as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Advanced resort operations expertise, financial acumen, strategic planning, leadership development, and cross-functional communication.
- Ability to lead multiple teams with clear expectations and communication with a strong level of integrity.
- Advanced knowledge of large-scale resort or hospitality operations, including lodging, guest services, housekeeping, recreation/activities, and food & beverage.
- Strong business and financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and multi-department P&L oversight.
- Executive-level communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Ability to lead complex operational initiatives with strategic foresight and data-informed decision-making.
- Proven success managing transformational change, elevating service delivery, and building high-performing teams.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- 10-15% - may be required to travel for any Bass Pro Shops Hospitality locations, networking and development opportunities and general brand exposure
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly walks, sits, stands and works on a computer.
Seldom/never lifts up to 50 lbs.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Develops strategic direction, goals, plans and policies for an area of responsibility. Sets broad objectives and is accountable for overall results in respective area of responsibility. Authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance. Requires a high degree of independent judgment and problem solving of complex problems.
