Key Responsibilities
- Steam Bending: Utilize steam bending techniques to shape wood into custom curves and forms for a variety of projects.
- Biscuit Joining: Efficiently use biscuit joiners to create strong, seamless joints between pieces of wood for furniture, cabinetry, and other wood-based products.
- Veneering: Apply wood veneers to various surfaces, ensuring smooth adhesion and a flawless finish that meets design specifications.
- Sanding: Perform sanding operations on wood surfaces, preparing them for finishing by ensuring a smooth, even texture and eliminating imperfections.
- Assembly: Assemble wooden pieces into final products, ensuring structural integrity and precision alignment of components.
- Clamping: Use various clamping techniques to hold pieces in place during assembly, ensuring uniform pressure for proper bonding and alignment.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of craftsmanship, ensuring each piece meets the required specifications and design criteria.
- Maintenance: Keep woodworking tools and equipment in excellent working condition, performing regular cleaning and basic maintenance tasks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, designers, and project managers to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while working in the fabrication shop, ensuring safe practices during lifting, and handling of materials.
- Adhere to scheduled break and lunch times, ensuring timely return to work to maintain productivity and operational efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Drivers license
- Proven experience as a woodworker, with expertise in steam bending, biscuit joining, veneering, sanding, and assembly.
- Strong understanding of woodworking tools, machinery, and techniques.
- Attention to detail and precision in all aspects of woodworking.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during the production process.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to meet project deadlines.
- Experience with specialized woodworking equipment, such as CNC routers or lathes.
- Knowledge of various finishing techniques (e.g., staining, varnishing, etc.)
- Formal education or certification in woodworking or carpentry (optional but preferred).
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 pounds).
- Standing for long periods during work processes.
- Ability to work in a workshop environment with exposure to dust, noise, and other typical woodworking conditions.
