We are looking for a Regional Technical Project Manager - Electrocoat to join our Technical Team in Jackson, MI.

The Regional Technical Project Manager Electrocoat is a North America (US/CAN/MX) position, reporting to Head of Technology NA, aligning within the Key Industry Sales Group and RTS team.

Some of the responsibilities of the Regional Technical Project Manager are as follows:


Primary Responsibilities

  • Applications and Technical Service: Responsible for coordinating PPAP, Approval and customer electrocoat projects between New Providence, Southfield, BMT and other outside labs and suppliers.
    • Projects will be primarily of a regional nature but with some global testing as well.
    • Includes project submission, data review, report writing and sample review
    • Responsible for sample preparation for submissions and communication of results to internal stakeholders.
    • Will create and communicate timelines and prioritization of projects along with any resources required to complete projects.

  • Corrosion Testing: Prepare and organize corrosion testing projects, ensuring compliance with documented test procedures.
    • Handle samples and perform analyses according to established methods and instructions.
    • Familiar with product approvals process according to customer specifications.
    • Creation and management of databases containing surrogate data and approval status of various products.
    • Will notify stakeholders when surrogate data is available for use in reporting. Writes clear, concise lab reports on work completed, making appropriate recommendations with the assistance of the Analytical Specialist and other technical resources.
  • Management of lab and testing costs for both internal and external testing.
  • Potential for sample preparation for both pretreatment and electrocoat using pilot line, includes bath building and make up along with analytical sample preparation. à
  • Continuously upgrade technical skills by working in the laboratories with other technical personnel.
  • Polishes written and verbal communication with technical and business stakeholders
  • Supporting and guiding role in relevant audits
  • Works in the laboratory in a safe and clean manner.

If you have...

  • BS Degree is required; preferably in a science or engineering field with equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical electrocoat and pretreatment experience required.
  • Team Leader: people development, as well as technical skill development and cross training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Guidance, ISO 9001, ISO 17015, etc.
  • Prior experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Interface management, ability to work with sales, customers, and technology.
  • Multicultural mindset, working with colleagues from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico; ability to fluently speak English; ability to speak Spanish and/or French is preferred.
  • Travel: up to 25% travel, this includes local and overnight travel.



Physical Requirements:

  • Includes sitting, walking, standing, alternate sit/stand, and viewing of monitor.
  • Simple grasping frequently, power grasping, fine manipulation with hands, pushing, and pulling with hands, and ability to reach above shoulder level.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50lbs.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $90,000-$115,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
