Clinical Certified Peer Recovery Supporter

Reports to: Site Clinical Supervisor 

Job Summary: 

The Clinical Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (CPRS) provides recovery-oriented support to individuals receiving treatment services at BRC. Drawing upon their own lived experience in recovery, the PRS builds trust, models recovery, and assists patients in navigating treatment, accessing resources, and sustaining engagement. The PRS works as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team under direct and general clinical supervision by the Site Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Director, and other Leadership staff, supporting patient-centered care and adherence to program and compliance standards. 

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Upholds the Mission Statement of Basecamp Recovery Center and participates in general meetings and retreats. Maintains professional relationships with all patients and staff. Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including patient rights, safety rules and regulations, the agency code of ethics and all applicable state and local laws, rules, and regulations. 
  • Provides quality substance use/abuse and mental health PRS intervention services to Basecamp Recovery Center patients. 
  • Provide peer-based support and mentorship to patients, modeling recovery and promoting Hope.
  • Assist patients in identifying recovery goals, developing action steps, and building motivation for ongoing participation in treatment.
  • Will meet individually with patients as a part of an ongoing caseload for a minimum of 1-hour daily, Monday-Friday, weekly. Upon their transition to IOP LOC, this frequency will reduce to a minimum of 1-hour twice weekly. 
  • Support patients with navigation of systems and resources, including sober housing, community recovery supports, and social services. 
  • Collaborate with counselors, case managers, housing coordinators, housing PRS, transportation, and medical staff to support treatment compliance and address barriers to retention and engagement.
  • Provide recovery coaching in group and individual settings, ensuring alignment with patient treatment plans.
  • Participate in clinical team meetings and contribute to care coordination discussions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of peer support services, in accordance with Medicaid, OhioMHAS, CARF, and agency requirements.
  • Respect and uphold patient rights, confidentiality, and boundaries, consistent with ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Encourage participation in mutual aid groups (e.g., AA/NA, SMART Recovery) and other community recovery supports as appropriate for the individual patient’s needs and preferences. 
  • Provide transportation or accompaniment when appropriate and approved.
  • Participates in Basecamp Recovery Center’s Quality Improvement activities, conducts peer reviews according to agency policy, and maintains records in compliance with all Quality Assurance, OhioMHAS, and agency guidelines, and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain compliance with documentation standards.

 

Supervision: 

  • Reports directly to the Clinical Director or Supervisor, or other designee.
  • Receives clinical supervision in alignment with OhioMHAS, CARF, and agency requirements. 
  • Will attend at minimum 1-hour of Clinical Supervision per 40 hours worked, documented weekly in logs and maintained on-record by PRS and Supervisor. 

 

Education and Experience: 

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter Certification through OhioMHAS 

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a treatment or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of community resources, recovery supports, and systems navigation.
  • Training in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or crisis intervention.

Other Job Requirements:

  • Hold and maintain an Ohio driver’s license with a good driving record, or willingness to obtain a valid driver’s license within 6 months of hire. 
  • Required to travel on company time 
  • Furnish a reliable, personal means of transportation to accomplish work objectives
