Head Women’s Basketball Coach
ABOUT THE POSITION
Baruch College’s Athletic Department is seeking a part-time Head Women’s Basketball Coach. The Head Coach will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the program, including planning, development, and daily operations. The position is responsible for guiding a competitive NCAA Division III program that participates in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
The Head Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for providing a high-quality varsity program that challenges and develops the physical, mental, and personal abilities of student-athletes within an NCAA Division III program.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coach women’s basketball in a manner consistent with the educational mission of the College.
- Promote ethical, values-based coaching to develop the character and skills of student-athletes.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the sport, including advanced coaching strategies and a commitment to student-athlete development.
- Oversee and effectively operate an NCAA Division III varsity women’s basketball program, emphasizing sportsmanship.
- Identify and recruit qualified student-athletes in accordance with college policies and guidelines.
- Supervise and manage coaching staff.
- Collaborate effectively with administrators, support staff, and other athletics personnel, including facilities, equipment, finance, and academic liaisons.
- Communicate effectively with various institutional constituents (e.g., faculty, administration, students, parents, staff, alumni, and friends) to support integration with the College community.
- Manage all program operations, including scheduling, budgeting, travel, and equipment.
- Drive college vans to practices and games.
- Oversee team involvement with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
- Complete required training and administrative duties and attend all mandatory meetings.
- Comply with all rules and regulations set forth by CUNYAC, CUNY, Baruch College, NYC, and the NCAA.
- Represent the program at campus, conference, and community events.
- Lead and support fundraising efforts to enhance program opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and coaching experience.
- Minimum of five years of basketball coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience managing team dynamics.
- Proven ability to organize and manage practices, recruiting, and overall program operations.
- Understanding of the role intercollegiate athletics plays in the educational development of student-athletes.
- Commitment to the Department of Athletics’ mission and the values of education through athletics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (e.g., Google Sheets).
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required within a specified period after hire.

Compensation: $15,000 - $18,000
