About the Role
We have an opening for an Experienced Electrical Estimator to join our pre-construction team in the Kansas City, MO area. You'll play a critical role in the planning and execution of our projects by providing accurate, comprehensive cost estimates. Your expertise will support our project managers and clients by making sure every aspect of project cost is meticulously evaluated and managed.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed, accurate cost estimates from blueprints, specs, and project scope — labor, materials, equipment, and overhead
- Build design-build and design-assist estimates from design narratives and floor plans; identify scope gaps, value alternatives, and escalation concerns
- Provide early budgetary guidance to customers, including square-footage budgets based on historical data
- Review contracts, drawings, and documentation to identify cost impacts and risks
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes; negotiate terms and keep bids aligned with budget
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to keep requirements and cost implications clear
- Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns to senior management and clients, on time and to company standards
- Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience as an estimator in the electrical industry
- Track record estimating complex projects with electrical packages of $5,000,000 and above
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., McCormick) and Microsoft Office
- Strong grasp of cost-estimation techniques, construction methods, and materials
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management
- Preferred: degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Finance
Work Environment
Primarily office-based in the Kansas City / Liberty, MO area, with occasional site visits. Standard office hours, with occasional overtime during peak bid periods.
