About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing construction organization delivering complex projects across heavy civil construction disciplines.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field

Experience

• 5 years of combined construction and estimating experience
• Strong background in heavy civil construction
• Knowledge of standard heavy civil construction practices
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid is preferred

Skills

• Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong technical writing skills and experience contributing to proposal development
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
• Ability to proactively identify risks and develop solutions

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project estimates and proposals to ensure accurate and timely submissions
• Collaborate with estimators and project managers to develop complete cost estimates
• Develop project work plans, schedules, and pre-bid construction schedules
• Lead bid kick-off and bid review meetings
• Perform quantity takeoffs, research historical cost data, and develop construction sequencing
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors
• Conduct site visits and project investigations as needed
• Perform constructability reviews and identify project risks and contingencies
• Present estimates, cost rationale, and strategies during internal bid reviews
• Lead project handoffs to operations teams upon award
• Participate in project progress meetings with operations, accounting, and field staff
• Support strategic bid planning and win strategies with leadership

Working Environment

• Combination of office and field-based work
• Extended periods working on computers and preparing estimates
• Outdoor jobsite visits in varying conditions
• Use of required PPE when visiting construction sites
