Pay Information:
Internal Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
RT 1 starts at $43.11 per hour
RT 2 starts at $47.23 per hour
RT 3 starts at $51.36 per hour
Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist 1:
The Respiratory Therapist 1 is a recent graduate who provides respiratory care under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist. This role assists with basic therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, such as oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and patient monitoring, while gaining hands-on experience and developing clinical skills.
Respiratory Therapist 2:
The Respiratory Therapist 2 is a journey-to-advanced therapist who provides respiratory care independently. This position provides respiratory care to patients across all age groups from newborn to elder in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This role requires clinical expertise in therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, ventilator management, and emergency response.
Respiratory Therapist 3:
The Respiratory Therapist 3 is an advanced therapist who provides respiratory care independently, serving as a clinical expert and mentor, supporting staff development and high-quality care. This role precepts RT staff and students, contributes to education, protocols, and quality initiatives, and participates in committees. The RT3 is a key resource for clinical knowledge and helps advance department goals through leadership and collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
RT 1:
Preferred Education: Associate degree in administration or healthcare
Experience: N/A – New graduates or RT’s with less than one year experience
License(s): Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure and/or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Certification(s): None
RT 2:
Preferred Education: Associate degree in administration or healthcare
Experience: One (1) year of recent respiratory therapy experience
Substitutions: Six (6) months as a Respiratory Therapist 1 at BRH
Preferred Experience: Hospital / acute care experience
License(s): Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure and/or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Certification(s): BLS
RT 3:
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy or related field
Experience: Three (3) years of recent clinical respiratory therapy experience (in the last five years)
Substitutions: Eighteen (18) months of full-time experience at BRH as an RT 2
Must demonstrate clinical competency in ED, CCU, OB and outpatient care
License(s): Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure and/or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Certification(s): BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, TEAM/CPI
