Accounting Lead

Position Summary

This is not a training role — we need someone who has done this before and can hit the ground running. The Accounting Lead will oversee all financial operations for multiple locations, manage the month-end close process, and be apart of a small accounting team.

You will work onsite four days a week and one remote day to maintain hands-on control of the accounting function, ensure accuracy and timeliness in reporting, and proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact the business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

• Lead and execute month-end bank and credit card reconciliations for all locations.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts with accuracy.
• Prepare profit & loss statements for five (3) separate locations, ensuring timely delivery to leadership.
• Identify and resolve COGS variances between POS system data and vendor statements.

Audit, Compliance & Control

• Serve as the primary lead for internal and external audits.
• Manage inter-company billing and ensure records are aligned across all entities.
• Oversee credit card disputes, chargebacks, and vendor account reconciliations.

Vendor & Asset Management

• Maintain precise vendor ledgers and ensure all payments and credits are properly recorded.
• Track and update loaner vehicle inventory for insurance and operational purposes.

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

• Resolve escalated AP issues quickly and effectively.
• Coach, mentor, and train team members to improve performance and efficiency.
• Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes to support growth and accuracy.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Proven track record of overseeing multi-location accounting operations from start to finish.
• Experience leading a team and managing day-to-day accounting operations.
• Strong skills in month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Ability to work onsite, four days a week in one of our 3 locations in IL ( Plainfield , Oswego , or Carol Stream).
• Comfortable working extended hours during close periods.

Preferred:

• CPA designation required.
• Auto repair industry or multi-location retail accounting experience.
• NetSuite and QuickBooks Online proficiency.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, complex formulas).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
