Role summary / purpose

This is a 10-speed and hybrid transmission systems engineer position with a focus on warranty deep dive and issue resolution. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and owns the product, delivering cost, quality and warranty improvements for customers. You will help us succeed in this critical area that is responsible for maximizing warranty performance and customer satisfaction. Join the fast-paced RWD Hybrid Transmission Team, responsible for providing an exciting customer experience across multiple product lines.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a product development engineer responsible for 10-speed RWD propulsion systems and their integration into vehicle spaces
• Take ownership of the transmission system and component warranty work, hand in hand with component engineers
• Work as a team to improve part quality and increase the customer experience
• Lead root cause investigations and follow-ups with assembly plants and service teams
• Evaluate current warranty trends and deep dive into field issues while working with component and system design and release engineers, manufacturing plants, calibration, service and dealers
• Work with Powertrain Manufacturing and Vehicle Assembly Plants on manufacturing-related improvement actions

Requirements - education & experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Calibration and vehicle data collection knowledge
• Hands-on problem solver with strong root cause analysis skills
• Independent self-starter when required
• Strong communicator who can foster relationships with suppliers
• Curious mindset with commitment to continued improvement
• Strong drive to both learn from and teach others

Nice-to-have / preferred skills

• Caltools experience or similar calibration tools
• Hybrid FHEV/PHEV experience
• Transmission or powertrain experience
• Design and release experience

Employment details - type, location, hours

This is a hybrid position requiring 4 days per week on site in Livonia, Michigan, or more depending on specific testing and hardware needs. Short-term travel may be required, and candidates must be approved to travel globally. Candidates must be available to work on site from day one as specified.
