Position Overview
This is an expert-level role within the Project Controls discipline. The Senior Project Controls Scheduler leads the development and maintenance of advanced project scheduling and reporting systems for large, complex capital projects. The role requires deep expertise in Primavera P6, the ability to work independently with minimal oversight, and experience supporting high-value, high-complexity project portfolios.
This position typically supports large-scale projects ranging from approximately $100M to over $500M in value. The Scheduler collaborates closely with cross-functional project teams and external suppliers/vendors to ensure accurate planning, forecasting, and schedule control.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and oversight of project schedules using Primavera P6
- Perform complex scheduling, change documentation, and schedule control activities
- Support program- and portfolio-level schedule reporting
- Lead and facilitate schedule review meetings with project stakeholders
- Partner with project teams to gather inputs and update schedules accurately
- Train and mentor other project controls team members
- Work independently with broad latitude for decision-making and deliverables
- Interface with internal stakeholders and external vendors/suppliers of varying experience levels
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, project management, engineering, technical discipline, or equivalent
- OR a minimum of 11 years of relevant scheduling experience in lieu of a degree
- Minimum of 7 years of project controls scheduling experience using Primavera P6
- Expert knowledge of project controls principles and scheduling best practices
- Proven ability to lead schedule discussions and reviews
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, finance, project management, or related field
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, or AACE certifications (or equivalent)
- Proficiency with tools including Microsoft Office Suite, Primavera, and other project controls or risk management software
