Bi-Weekly Rotating Schedule:
- Monday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Friday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Alternate Week:
· Monday 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
· Wednesday 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
· Friday 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Status: Part-Time 15 hours per week
Hourly Rate to Start: $16.40
Position Summary:
Barrington Public Library is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Part-Time Library Assistant to support daily library operations. This essential role ensures smooth service delivery by assisting patrons, maintaining the collection, and overseeing circulation and closing procedures during both morning and evening shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly and efficient service at the front desk, including checking materials in and out.
- Clear the outdoor book drop and process returned items.
- Manage the reserve list and assist with hold requests.
- Make courtesy and overdue calls to patrons.
- Shelve materials and conduct regular shelf reading to maintain collection order.
- Assist with creating and maintaining book displays.
- Reconcile receipts and prepare end-of-day reports.
- Clear and secure the building at closing time.
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with library systems and procedures preferred.
- Must be dependable and comfortable working a consistent schedule.
