JOB TITLE: GROUP LEADER K.E.E.P.
CLASSIFICATION: SEASONAL, NON-EXEMPT
SUPERVISOR: CAMP SITE COORDINATOR AND ASSSISTANT CAMP SITE COORDINATOR K.E.E.P.
HOURS: 8:15AM – 3:45PM
EMPLOYMENT GRADE: 5
PAY RANGE: STARTING AT $17.00
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Group Leader provides direct supervision and care for participants at K.E.E.P. Day Camp. Plan and lead daily program, field trips, sports, special events, art, camp government, music, songs and games.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises participants while protecting their physical, psychological and emotional health
- Will attend all scheduled trainings and meetings as deemed necessary by the K.E.E.P. Office (Failure to attend training could result in loss of position)
- Be a positive role model. Inappropriate language, conversation and mature theme discussions should not take place at camp
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the employee handbook and consistently adheres to company policies and procedures.
- Has submitted, for approval, at least three planned “Rainy Day activity” suggestions (Complete with “time” itinerary and supply request).
- Responsible for planning and submitting activities for the week, including 3 art/stem activities and 5 active time activities for each week.
- Will always display enthusiasm for all planned activities.
- Uses only positive, non-physical methods of guidance and discipline.
- Arrives to work at scheduled time and acknowledges the danger to both the program and the children if tardiness becomes habitual, and therefore realizes that said action could result in dismissal from current position.
- Will enforce all K.E.E.P. policies and procedures.
- Will not voice difference of opinion with other staff in front of the children or their parents/caregivers.
- Assures that children are never to be allowed to roam at will at the camp site or on field trips.
- Any and all duties deemed necessary by the K.E.E.P. office.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma is preferred
- Thorough knowledge of the specific activity preferred
- Ability to teach in any given class situation
- Must possess current Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED Certification (Park District will train)
Salary : $17 - $19
