What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant/Athletic Trainer - PM&R position at Barrington Orthopedic Specialists?
Barrington Orthopedics Specialists is looking for a Full-Time Certified Medical Assistant or Athletic Trainer to be part of our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) team. Clinical duties include assisting with patient evaluation, documentation, and assisting with injections, post & preoperative teaching, assisting with nerve blocks, lumbar epidural injections, radio frequency procedures, and intra-articular hip injections.
This individual will be assigned to a Physician in clinic, and dependent on physician assignment duties will vary. Administration duties will include, but not limited to, messaging, phone calls to patients and required documentation, processing medical refills, work/gym notes, any other related paperwork as needed.
Work shifts are based on the assigned physician. Shifts will range Monday ~ Friday.
Shifts may be scheduled between the hours of 7:30am-6:00pm & additional pay for Saturday hours if needed.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting Physician with:
- Procedures (casting, splinting, DME application, cortisone injections, wound care, suture removal, orthotic fittings, ingrown toenails, performing vitals)
- Messaging
- Phone calls to patients and required documentation
- Processing medical refills
- Work/gym notes, any other related paperwork as needed
- Process forms: insurance, disability, FMLA, work statuses/restrictions
This individual will see patients in clinic, H/P general overview of reason for visit and verifying all information completed thus far is accurate.

Schedule:
Full-Time: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 6:00pm (shifts will range/vary depending on physician schedule)
Travel to all four locations required: Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Bartlett, Buffalo Grove
Salary range is dependent on role and experience level:
Medical Assistant: $40,000 - $55,000
Athletic Trainer: $55,000 - $68,000

Requirements:
Must be able to multitask and be willing to learn new tasks. This position is very hands on, and we will take the time to train you in all areas needed!
- Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Athletic Trainer preferred
- Previous Experience in orthopedic setting preferred
- Previous Experience with pain management preferred
- Athena EMR System - A PLUS
Salary : $40,000 - $68,000
