Description
As the Director of Human Resources, you?ll oversee all HR functions for Barrett and NIOA USA, ensuring alignment with Group objectives and best practices in people management. You?ll lead strategic HR initiatives, foster employee engagement, and drive culture and capability development. Working closely with leadership, you?ll manage U.S. payroll and compliance while embedding Group Values to support long-term business success.
About the Role
- Be an advocate and proactive member of the Group Shared Services and Barrett Senior Leadership Team, ensuring alignment between business and Group strategy.
- Lead the HR function, managing the team to deliver efficient, compliant and effective HR services across the employee lifecycle.
- Deliver and implement the strategic plan activities ensuring delivery of HR objectives within the area of control.
- Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance with applicable wage and hour laws.
- Ensure payroll-related reporting obligations are met, including federal/state filings, benefit deductions, retirement plan contributions and audit requirements.
- Partner with Finance and external providers to maintain compliance with tax, benefits and labor reporting requirements (e.g. ACA, ERISA, COBRA, EEOC, OSHA, 401(k) reporting).
- Champion the Values and advocate through driving initiatives, own behaviours and influencing those of the HR team.
- Ensure all HR budgets, including headcount, salary and Barrett L&D are managed in line with Group expectations.
- Advise senior leadership on workforce planning and organizational structure improvements.
- Champion Group initiatives to strengthen employee engagement, company culture and retention.
- Oversee the talent management lifecycle ensuring the attraction, development and retention of top talent through providing clear direction and guidance to hiring managers and the HR team.
- In conjunction with Group HR, develop and design succession planning initiatives.
- Partner with senior leaders and managers to identify skill gaps, implement development plans and focus on continuous professional growth through feedback and coaching initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws as well as Group HR Frameworks.
- Guide support and direct managers and employees on HR policies, performance management, employee relations and development.
- Drive optimization of the HRIS and payroll systems to improve efficiency, reporting and data integrity.
- Promote collaboration and best practice sharing across global leadership.
- All other duties as directed.

- Bachelor?s degree (or international equivalent) required. Master?s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years? experience in HR operations across a variety of industries.
- Minimum 5 years? experience managing a team.
- Ability to understand, recall and follow complex compliance regulations.
- Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple projects, as well as problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Sound judgement in handling sensitive HR matters with legal complications.
