Duties/Responsibilities:
Estimating & Bid Management
· Lead the preparation of accurate, detailed estimates and bid proposals for both public and private projects.
· Analyze landscape construction drawings and specs for constructability and pricing strategy.
· Perform quantity take-offs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost breakdowns.
· Oversee and review estimates developed by junior team members.
· Ensure all proposals meet compliance standards and profitability goals.
Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination
· Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
· Request, evaluate, and negotiate competitive pricing from vendors and subs.
· Keep cost data and pricing libraries up to date with current market trends.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
· Supervise and mentor the estimating team, fostering a high-performance culture.
· Work closely with project management, accounting, and sales to ensure seamless project handoffs.
· Participate in pre-construction planning and internal strategy sessions.
Process Improvement & Reporting
· Create, maintain, and enhance estimating templates, procedures, and historical cost data.
· Track bid outcomes, analyze trends, and report metrics to senior leadership.
· Continuously improve estimating efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience
· 10 years of estimating experience in landscape or general construction.
· Proven success in estimating and securing commercial and public works projects.
· Experience managing full-cycle bids and mentoring junior estimators.
· Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
· Experience with prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon projects is a plus.
· Strong blueprint reading skills — especially with grading, irrigation, planting, and hardscape.
· Proficiency in Bluebeam, OST, and MS Excel.
