Key Responsibilities:
- Finance: Lead annual school budget development, multi-year financial forecasting, and capital planning. Serve as the district’s Chief Financial Officer, ensuring appropriate cash flow, investment oversight, and strong internal controls for annual audits. Collaborates with the Business Manager.
- Operations: Provide oversight for facilities, capital projects, and transportation systems. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for buildings, grounds, and the Food Services Program. Collaborates with the Director of Facilities.
- Safety and Risk Management: Lead district-wide emergency operations planning and coordinate the District Safety Team. Maintain up-to-date crisis protocols, building safety equipment, and coordinate with local emergency services. Collaborates with all school Principals.
- Human Resources: Provide leadership for personnel systems, including benefit administration, recruitment, and retention. Lead AFSCME negotiations and support the Superintendent in BEA negotiations. Collaborates with the Director of Human Resources.
Supervisory Duties: The Managing Director will supervise and evaluate the District’s Fiscal, Human Resources, Facilities, Food Service, Transportation, and Safety and Security services.
Professional Standards: This position requires a leader dedicated to accountability for fiscal, operational, safety, and personnel systems. The Director will work closely with the Superintendent and School Board committees to provide regular, clear reporting to the board and the public.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Educational Leadership preferred
- 5 - 7 years of professional experience in financial management or administration
- SHRM, CPA, and/or VASBO (Vermont Association of School Business Officials) certifications a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range is $127,000 - $131,000, commensurate with experience
