What are the responsibilities and job description for the Co Principal position at Barre Unified Union School District?
The Barre Unified Union School District is seeking a compassionate, collaborative PreK-8 Co-Principal to lead in a high poverty school community where trauma informed practice, SEL and strong relationships are foundational to student success.
Working in partnership with an Assistant Principal and Co-Principal, this leader will advance a shared vision focused on belonging, safety, academic growth and opportunity for each and every student.
The ideal candidate understands the impact of trauma and poverty on learning and behavior, leads with empathy and high expectations and is skilled at supporting adults and students through systems that prioritize wellness, equity, and instructional excellence. The position will begin July 1, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead high quality teaching and learning through an SEL lens
- Develop and foster Implementation of trauma informed and culturally responsive teaching practices
- Support implementation of district-aligned MTSS system: behavioral, academic, social/emotion systems
- Coach and develop staff to meet high academic and social emotional expectations
- Foster a safe and inclusive school culture grounded in trust and care
- Partner with caregivers and community agencies to support students holistically
Qualifications
- Masters degree and valid Vermont Principals licensure 3-91 (Principal Grades PK - 12)
- Minimum 5 years teaching and administrative/leadership experience
- Demonstrated instructional leadership and knowledge of systems change theory
- Experience with all areas of key responsibilities
Compensation
Competitive salary and benefits package, $110,000-120,000
