The Associate Account Manager reports to the VP of US Sales and supports profitable and sustainable growth within assigned market and sales territory by building customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting account development. This role is designed for a sales professional with 3–5 years of inside sales or direct selling experience, required food industry experience, and a strong interest in growing within a technical, customer-focused sales environment.
As a pathway to an Account Manager position, the Associate Account Manager will develop commercial, product, and market knowledge while partnering with internal teams to deliver responsive service and value-added solutions to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *
Position/Department
- Support territory growth strategies that increase market presence, sales, and gross profit
- Communicate Barentz’ value proposition to existing and prospective customers
- Identify customer needs, match potential supplier solutions, and maintain opportunities in the pipeline system
- Provide responsive customer service through timely follow-up, accurate communication, and internal collaboration
- Stay informed on food industry trends, emerging markets, new products, and competitive activity
- Attend trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events to build market knowledge and relationships
- Represent Barentz professionally in customer interactions, industry events, and business development activities
- Prospect new customers using appropriate sales techniques and clear brand messaging
- Move prospects through the sales process with guidance from management and senior sales team members
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations and product discussions, as appropriate
- Schedule and participate in customer visits with purchasing, R&D, sales, and marketing contacts
- Respond to customer questions, concerns, and inquiries with urgency and accuracy
- Prepare quotes, coordinate sample requests, and follow up on customer needs
- Participate in product introductions, supplier training, joint sales calls, and product evaluations
- Report on customer issues, opportunities, and activities through appropriate communication tools
- Provide regular forecast updates using Barentz’ online forecasting tool
Leadership/ Teamwork
- Participate in regular 1 to 1 meetings with supervisor to discuss the status of the territory’s business and growth opportunities
- Communicate with other Account Managers throughout the organization to stay up to date on customers and trends
Continuous Improvement/Problem Solving
- Ensure all applicable facility requirements, certifications and designations
- Contribute to and support continuous improvement of our processes and systems
- Seek opportunities to share best practices with the team, support staff and other divisions
Systems
- Barentz specific systems, including but not limited to BRM, Vizion, Chempax, Datacor, Sharepoint, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or other related field (Required)
- Combination of education and relevant sales or food industry experience may be considered
Experience
- 3–5 years of inside sales or direct selling experience (required)
- Food industry experience (required)
Certifications
- Professional Sales, Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and Quality Systems training desired
- Any industry related certification (Sales Techniques, Project Management, Regulatory, Quality Management, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability
Position/Product/Industry Requirements
- Experience using industry-related technologies, sales tools, and customer management systems
- Demonstrated ability to support sales growth, develop customer relationships, and contribute to territory profitability
- Supplier, ingredient, distributor, or customer-facing food industry experience would be considered an asset
- Developing ability to sell and grow business based on features, advantages, benefits (FAB’s), market pricing, and competitive landscape
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
