Child Care Supervisor
Job Title: Child Care Supervisor
Reports to: Director of District Child Care Services
Minimum Requirements:
Prefer a minimum educational requirement of a CDA (Child Development Credential) or Associate of Arts with an emphasis in child development, but will accept at least 5 years supervisory experience in a licensed child are setting. Must also be certified in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Training. As well as, strong oral and written communication skills.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the administrative functions of the school system’s two childcare programs, including, but not limited to:
- Ensure the safety and well being of children enrolled in the programs
- Participate in hiring, training and evaluating program employees
- Monitor hours and coverage by staffing according to daily census
- Ensuring that quality standards are met
- Enrolling new children to maintain maximum occupancy
Job Duties:
1) Ensures that all state and school regulations, policies and procedures are carried out efficiently and effectively for the center.
2) Ensures that no deficiencies are found at annual inspections by Licensing and Regulations.
3) Trains and assigns new staff to work with experienced staff member for orientation.
4) Assists Director in conducting regularly scheduled staff meetings.
5) Reviews, calculates and turns in time sheets to Director no later than the 16th of each month.
6) Assists with preference evaluations on staff at least annually or more frequently if necessary.
7) Provide for the health, safety and comfort of the children enrolled in the center.
A) Obtains and maintains files on children, including immunization records.
B) Ensures that all equipment is in good working condition and that all areas (including playgrounds) meet health and safety standards.
C) Conducts and documents monthly fire drills and quarterly disaster drills.
D) Documents and reports incidents and accidents to Director and to the Division of Licensing and Regulations when necessary.
E) Ensures that all staff handle disciplinary actions appropriately and fairly.
8) Oversees staff’s activity planning and makes sure that needed supplies are available.
9) Observes staff to see that schedule activities are being carried out.
10) Conducts parent conferences when requested or necessary.
11) Holds annual registration and assists with enrolling children when vacancies occur, keeping enrollment at optimal levels.
12) Gives sufficient advance notice when it is necessary to be off for personal reasons or for appointments, including doctor’s appointments.
13) Schedules appointments for times that minimally interfere with the regular work schedule.
14) Does pre-enrollment for those that are pregnant and PLD days.
15) Ensures that all staff meet the requirements for their jobs before employment starts; for example, gets clearance from Central Office and proof of TB skin test. The Director orders the copies of FBI and State background checks on new employees, ensuring that the staff member is not left alone until the checks comes back.
16) Ensures that all supplies (including snacks and breakfast foods) are purchased and on-site when needed.
17) Prepares and posts monthly snack menus, making sure that they meet nutritional guidelines.
18) Submits monthly Record of Meals served to Director.
19) Accepts new responsibilities willingly and performs other tasks as requested.
