Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Assist in food preparation tasks such as slicing, dicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients with precision using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, mixers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to strict food safety and sanitation standards
- Support menu planning efforts by preparing components for daily specials or catering events
- Ensure food handling practices meet safety regulations to prevent contamination or spoilage
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to coordinate meal production and ensure timely service
- Follow recipe adherence meticulously to maintain consistency in taste and presentation
- Assist with cleaning duties at the end of shifts, including dishwashing and sanitizing surfaces
- Communicate effectively with team members to uphold safety standards in production and service
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or dietary departments is highly desirable
- Demonstrated dietary aide or dietary department experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of food safety management and handling procedures
- Skilled in food preparation techniques including slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients accurately
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining high-quality standards in meal preparation
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen environment
