Accounting Specialist

As our organization continues to grow, we're looking for an organized, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support the day-to-day financial operations of our business.

Position Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting the daily accounting functions of the company, including accounts payable, account reconciliations, cash management, and financial reporting support. This role works closely with restaurant operations, vendors, and the finance team to ensure accurate financial records and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Process and code vendor invoices accurately and timely.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare weekly check runs and electronic payments.
- Maintain vendor files, W-9s, and supporting documentation.
Cash & Bank Reconciliations
- Reconcile daily restaurant sales and deposits.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve variances between POS systems, bank deposits, and accounting records.
General Accounting
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Support inventory and fixed asset accounting.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
Financial Reporting
- Assist with preparing monthly financial reports.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Provide financial data and analysis as requested by leadership.
- Assist external accountants during audits and tax preparation.
Operational Support
- Work closely with restaurant managers to resolve accounting questions.
- Ensure accurate sales tax and other regulatory reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Assist with special projects and process improvements.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred
- Experience in the restaurant, hospitality, retail, or multi-location industry.
- Experience with accounting software such as Restaurant365, QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems.
- Experience working with POS systems and daily sales reconciliations.
- Knowledge of New York sales tax and payroll processes.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you will:
- Maintain accurate and timely processing of accounts payable.
- Complete monthly reconciliations with minimal adjustments.
- Support timely month-end financial closes.
- Build strong working relationships with restaurant managers and vendors.
- Help improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $65,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
