Job Summary: The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner will function in collaboration with the physicians on the team in the care of adult patients with critical illness on the mixed acuity units. His/her primary responsibility as a member of the Internal Medicine team will be management of a case load of critically ill patients in a primarily mixed acuity/transitional care unit setting. They will perform physical exams, collect and document data, organize/perform approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consults, prescribe appropriate interventions and medications, and provide direct patient care services to admitted Internal Medicine patients. The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner will contribute to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting and provide leadership within the organization and the nursing profession.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures/Certifications/Registrations Required:
- MSN required
- Successful completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a practitioner from an approved nurse practitioner program
- Eligible at all times to be insured for professional liability
- Active RN license in Kentucky or compact state
- Current unrestricted license to practice as an APRN in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 3 years of relevant Advanced Practice Nursing experience (required)
