LAUNDRY ASSISTANT

All positions at Baptist Village, Inc. include holidays and weekends as they fall within your schedule. Additional worked hours may be needed due to workload demands.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Experience and/or training in an equivalent position preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:

- Ability to walk/stand continuously for a minimum of 2 hours
- Ability to lift/move/push up to 50 pounds unassisted regularly
- Ability to lift/move/push up to 75 pounds unassisted occasionally

- Manual dexterity when handling equipment
- Visual and hearing acuity
- Push and/or pull a cart with the resident hanging or folded clothes
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The work environment is primarily inside.
As required by OSHA, an exposure evaluation has been done based upon a reasonably anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials that may result from the performance of employee duties. Based on the evaluation, the Laundry Assistant has a High Risk for exposure.
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS:
Computer, telephone, fax, commercial laundry equipment; Additionally, tools, equipment, and work aids consistent with a laundry associate position, such as carts, containers, stools, steps, bags, and other equipment as needed.
APPEARANCE AND DRESS:
The dress is a designated uniform. See APPEARANCE AND WORK ATTIRE POLICY FOR UNIFORMED ASSOCIATES policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Conduct daily linen inventory count.
- Sort Linen and resident laundry.
- Operate the computer punchboard on the washer and dryer.
- Load and unload washers and dryers.
- Fold, stack, and count linens.
- Load linen bins for delivery.
- Fold resident laundry and put it in bins for delivery.
- Place the resident's clothes on hangers and place them on hanging racks for delivery.
- Place the resident's hanging clothes and folded clothes in the resident rooms in designated areas.
- Assist with cleaning the laundry room, equipment, floors, bathroom, etc.
- Document and report equipment or products that need repair or replacement.
- Record washer load count at the end of each day.
- Leave laundry buildings secure as instructed.
- Report promptly any resident concerns.
- Attend in-service as scheduled.
- Work assigned schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- The associate is authorized to have no access to resident health information as needed to provide treatment, for billing purposes, or for the purpose of healthcare operations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
