Summary/Objective
The Director of Sports Medicine Program provides leadership and oversight for all athletic trainers, ensuring high-quality care, safety, and compliance. This role supervises athletic trainers, coordinates care with providers and community partners, and supports the program’s daily operations and outreach.
Essential Job Duties

- Coordinate all daily operations of the Sports Medicine Program to ensure efficient delivery of athletic training services and high standards of patient care.
- Directly supervise, mentor, and evaluate athletic trainers and other assigned sports medicine staff, ensuring adherence to best practices, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
- Manage the delivery of athletic training services, ensuring effective prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries in collaboration with physicians, providers, coaches, and other healthcare professionals.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for sports medicine operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, state guidelines, and applicable accreditation standards to protect the safety and well-being of athletes and staff.
- Ensure effective communication among medical staff, coaches, student-athletes, families, and community partners, promoting the program’s services and serving as a liaison between the hospital and local schools or sports organizations.
- Manage administrative aspects of the program, including budgeting, purchasing, insurance coordination, record maintenance, scheduling, and program evaluation. Support student mentoring, staff development, and educational initiatives related to sports medicine
