Role Description This is a full-time, on-site, Weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun 7am-7pm) Sonographer role based in Corbin, KY. The Sonographer will perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols, producing high-quality images for interpretation. Daily responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, explaining procedures, maintaining patient comfort and safety, and documenting accurate clinical information in the electronic health record. The role involves collaborating closely with radiologists, physicians, and other care team members to support timely diagnoses and care plans. The Sonographer will also ensure proper operation and routine maintenance of ultrasound equipment, adhere to infection prevention and safety standards, and participate in quality improvement activities and continuing education.
Qualifications
- Certification or eligibility with relevant professional registries such as American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Background and clinical knowledge in Radiology and diagnostic imaging practices.
- Competence in Vascular ultrasound techniques and related vascular assessment procedures.
- Foundational understanding of Medicine sufficient to correlate imaging findings with clinical presentations.
- Current or eligible credentialing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography, if applicable to state and organizational requirements.
- Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Valid state licensure or certification in sonography, as required by Kentucky regulations.
- Strong patient-centered communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple examinations, maintain attention to detail, and follow safety and infection control protocols.
- Willingness to participate in shift, weekend, or on-call coverage as needed by the department.
