Highlights

Summary: The Director, Clinical Applications shall be responsible to provide strategic leadership, support, and optimization for a comprehensive set of clinical applications. This individual will ensure applications meet the clinical needs of Baptist Health, promote interoperability, and adhere to healthcare regulations, with a focus on enhancing patient care and operational efficiency. By fostering a user-centric approach and a culture of continuous improvement, the Director will drive innovation and position Baptist Health to adapt to advancements in clinical technology, supporting the organization's commitment to exceptional care.

Education/Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Technology or related field preferred. Minimum 8 years’ experience in clinical applications support, including at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing service delivery and support functions within a healthcare or similar complex environment.

Licensure/Certification

One or more current, industry standard role-specific certifications (Cerner, Epic, etc.) preferred.

  • In-depth understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Insight into clinical quality improvement initiatives and metrics.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of IT professionals.
  • Ability to attract, develop and retain talent and build high performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across various departments.
  • Exceptional ability to lead change using positive and collaborative methods.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on driving innovation and continuous improvement across IT.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks from start to finish without constant, direct supervision.
  • Effective time management skills to meet the multitude of project, task and departmental/organizational needs and commitments.
  • Ability to balance priorities and demands in a fast-paced and stressful work environment, individually and for assigned teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret an extensive variety of documents such as contracts, agreements, manuals, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to accurately manage capital and operating budgets.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and ensure accountability.
  • Extensive knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and quality requirements, including HIPAA, HITECH, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, change management, and project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of best practices for system optimization and performance tuning of clinical applications.
  • Capacity for strategic thinking, with the ability to align IT initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Ability to align clinical application strategies with organizational goals and patient care objectives
  • Ability to translate clinical needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
  • Ability to drive EHR optimization and usability improvements through clinician engagement.
