Highlights
Summary The Unit Assistant II shall be responsible to serve as a liaison between the unit clinical staff and supporting ancillary departments to help better serve and meet the needs of patients and staff. The Assistant will also serve as a supportive member of the patient care team to assist in routine and non-complex aspects of patient services, and other duties to support the operations of the unit. This individual will assist RNs, LPN’s, PCTs, and Physicians in the patient care process. This position is also responsible to maintain levels of inventory throughout the unit. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
Education High School diploma or equivalent required. Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) preferred. Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student (i.e. completion of ‘Nursing Fundamentals’ course which includes assistance with Activities of Daily Living, vital signs etc.) or 1-year experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home, or home care setting preferred.
License/ Certifications BLS required
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software. Strong team leadership skills, strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills. Must be able to meet strict deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, and excellent organizational skills. Must be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to remain calm in difficult situations. Strong written and oral communication skills, proficient computer skills, proven track record of successful performance. Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
