Responsibilities
Government Relations
- Develop and execute governmental relations strategies that align with Baptist Health Care’s mission, clinical priorities, and strategic plan.
- Serve as a liaison between Baptist Health Care and local, state, and federal elected officials, agency leaders, and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory activity affecting healthcare delivery, reimbursement, workforce, and public health.
- Prepare policy briefings, testimony, position statements, and advocacy materials for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate site visits, meetings, and public events involving elected officials and community leaders.
- Support executive leadership and board members in advocacy initiatives and public policy engagement.
- Collaborate with internal legal, compliance, and clinical leaders to ensure coordinated and compliant advocacy efforts.
- Manage Baptist Health Care’s involvement and leadership role with the Northwest Florida Business Alliance (NWFLBA), including:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute NWFLBA meetings, programs, and events, including agenda development, logistics, materials preparation, and follow-up.
- Identify, recruit, and coordinate speakers and subject-matter experts for alliance meetings and forums, ensuring timely booking and alignment with member interests and regional priorities.
- Maintain active awareness of regional business, economic, healthcare, workforce, and infrastructure issues; surface emerging topics and community concerns for discussion, education, or action by the alliance.
- Manage membership relations, including onboarding new members, supporting retention efforts, responding to inquiries, and fostering strong engagement across the alliance.
- Support alliance committees or working groups, including scheduling, coordination, and documentation as needed.
- Develop and manage department budget for government relations and community impact.
- Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
- May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's Degree Political Science, Public Health, Public Relations, Related field Required
- Master's Degree Political Science, Public Health, Public Relations, Related field Preferred
- 5 years Experience in governmental relations, community relations, community outreach, or public affairs. Required
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability work across a diverse range of teams and departments, understand and account for different perspectives, and respond appropriately to varied audiences.
- Strong facilitation skills.
- Positive and team-oriented attitude with a proactive approach, with an exceptional work ethic.
- Ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals.
- Ability to think strategically and execute with strong follow up skills.
- Deep commitment to community and our organization’s role as a community leader, with an understanding of local, regional and state issues that impact our role.
- Strong skills in Power Point, Word and Excel.
