As a Senior Park Ranger, you will protect, promote and enhance biodiversity values and ecological processes within Banyule City Council’s bushland reserves by engaging in daily work under the direction of the Bushland Team Leader. You will work closely with the environment community on a range of restoration and maintenance activities throughout the year.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and maintain a range of regeneration activities including weed control, direct seeding, enrichment planting, ecological and weed reduction burning and mapping and monitoring of significant flora and fauna.
  • Oversee the daily tasks of staff
  • Safely operate and maintain plant and equipment for onsite environmental works
  • Plan and conduct community events.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, attending required meetings.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with Bushland Park Ranger, Bushland Team Leader and Bushland Coordinator


What You'll Bring/what We Are Looking For

  • Diploma in Natural Resource Management, or related field; and a minimum of four years' experience within the industry.
  • Knowledge of flora indigenous to the City of Banyule parks and reserves.
  • Knowledge of weed flora pertaining to the City of Banyule.
  • Experience with other urban revegetation / regeneration projects.
  • Knowledge of integrated weed management practices using chemical and manual control options.
  • Ability to supervise staff and lead community groups


Pre-employment Requirements

  • Driver's Licence
  • Level 2 First Aid (Apply First Aid)
  • Functional Capacity Assessment
  • Agricultural chemical users certificate
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police check).

Work outdoors with a great team, 7.30am - 4.30pm. The position will be based at the Yando Street Depot and / or Council's Parks Office in Bellfield as required.
