Position Summary
The Work Control Planner is responsible for developing, reviewing, and coordinating work packages that support the safe and efficient execution of operations, maintenance, and modification activities. This role prepares detailed work instructions, labor and material estimates, safety requirements, and testing documentation to ensure work is properly planned, controlled, and completed in accordance with applicable procedures and standards. The Work Planner also works to identify and resolve work constraints and supports the successful closure of completed work packages.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and review work packages, including detailed work instructions, labor estimates, material requirements, and schedules.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve work constraints.
- Support the tracking, execution, and closure of work packages to ensure timely completion of assigned activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to job functions.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners, as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management.
- Participate in required training sessions and safety briefings.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years of related work planning, maintenance, operations, engineering, or project support experience.
- Experience developing, reviewing, and coordinating work packages and technical documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work through problems quickly and effectively and define a clear path to resolution
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a regulated industrial, nuclear, manufacturing, utility, or government environment.
- Knowledge of maintenance planning, work control, and configuration management processes.
- Experience interpreting technical drawings, procedures, and engineering documents.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work management software.
- Experience supporting safety, quality assurance, or compliance-driven work activities.
