Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, Bancroft School seeks a dedicated and experienced Head Girls’ and Boys’ Varsity Cross Country Coach to lead its high school program in the competitive Eastern Independent League (EIL) and New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC). The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who builds a strong, inclusive team culture and supports each student-athlete’s growth—academically, athletically and personally. A key component of this role includes providing guidance and support for student-athletes pursuing collegiate opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
- Direct all phases of the girls' and boys’ varsity cross country program.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, empowering, and competitive team environment aligned with the School’s mission and values.
- Collaborate with the athletic director to oversee the development of the entire cross country program, including the middle school program.
- Plan and lead effective practices focused on skill development, appropriate training and conditioning for high school student-athletes, and character-building.
- Develop student-athletes at all levels of experience and skill
- Prioritize athlete wellness and work collaboratively with the School’s athletic trainer, Dean of Students, and school counselors.
- Prepare the team for league and NEPSAC competition
- Run and supervise all home cross country meets
- Supervise and direct assistant coaches and coordinate with athletic training staff.
- Attend all required EIL and NEPSAC league meetings, submit required score reports, rosters, forms, and other information to the appropriate EIL and NEPSAC administrators
Salary : $4,500 - $5,000
