Platform Engineer

BAM is seeking a Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team in a hybrid SRE/DevOps capacity. This is a unique opportunity to shape the architecture, reliability, and automation of our trading and technology platforms, driving both operational excellence and engineering innovation across the firm. You will work at the intersection of SRE and DevOps, collaborating with Infrastructure, Cloud, Portfolio Management and Engineering teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and automated solutions that power BAM's business.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain common software and platform solutions leveraged across the business, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and automation.
• Drive the evolution of our systems and oversee the delivery of software and infrastructure enhancements, ensuring best-in-breed technologies are utilized across the stack.
• Champion SRE and DevOps best practices-including observability, automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code-across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Develop and promote standards for reliability, performance, and security, including service level objectives (SLOs), incident management, and post-mortems.
• Implement and maintain monitoring and observability offerings, with a low barrier to entry.
• Design and automate deployment pipelines and operational processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and developer autonomy.
• Collaborate with development teams to enhance service stability, scalability, and fault tolerance through mentoring, documentation, and hands-on support.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response, sharing responsibility for production reliability.

To be considered a good fit, you must have:

• 7 years of hands-on experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles within complex, distributed systems environments.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python or GoLang
• Experience architecting and implementing testable, scalable, and reliable software and infrastructure solutions.
• Deep expertise with containers and Kubernetes, including application management and orchestration.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with configuration/infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes Operators).
• Experience with CI/CD platforms and automation of SDLC processes.
• Experience working with and maintaining observability solutions.
• Experience working with both cloud (AWS preferred) and on-premises hosting platforms.
