In the role of Senior Associate – Regulatory Reporting, based in the Chicago office, this individual will be responsible for coordinating and producing key regulatory filings; while also helping modernize the way the firm gathers, validates, and reports data. The role blends hands-on reporting ownership with tool and workflow design, including opportunities to apply Python/automation and LLM-enabled solutions to reduce manual work, improve controls, and shorten timelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather, analyze, reconcile, and submit data used in regulatory reports and filings (U.S. and international), with a focus on completeness, accuracy, and auditability.
- Own end-to-end execution for core regulatory filings, including coordination of inputs, review of outputs, and final submissions where applicable (e.g., Form PF, CPO-PQR, Form ADV, 13F, and other surveys/filings).
- Oversee and challenge service providers/administrators to ensure timely and accurate delivery of regulatory filings; perform reasonability checks, variance analysis, and resolve breaks.
- Partner closely with Compliance, Legal, Treasury, Risk, and Technology to confirm methodologies, interpret requirements, and maintain consistent definitions across reporting.
- Read and interpret new/changed regulations, track impact to internal reporting, and work with stakeholders (including external industry resources when appropriate) to align on implementation approach.
- Lead process and model enhancements to improve reporting transparency and controls—mapping current workflows, identifying failure points, and designing a future state that reduces manual effort.
- Build or enhance internal tools to automate data collection and validation (e.g., Python-based pipelines, standardized templates, exception reports, controls dashboards).
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following environments:
- Hedge fund operations or fund accounting
- Fund administrator / third-party service provider
- Regulator or regulatory reporting function
- Experience preparing and/or gathering data for filings such as Form PF, CPO-PQR, ADV, and/or AIFMD preferred.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and drive process improvements; comfortable taking ownership and operating as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively across functions and explain methodologies clearly.
Technical skills:
- Python experience (automation, data wrangling, validation checks, reporting pipelines)
- Strong Excel skills; ability to reconcile across multiple data sources
- Familiarity with data tools and concepts (Power BI, Snowflake, data models, controls/exception reporting) is a plus
- Interest or experience in LLMs / applied AI for workflow support and process modernization is a plus (hands-on or in partnership with technology teams)
